Anniversary poster with work by the American photographer, William Eggleston, (b. 1937) from the series, Los Alamos, recorded in the period 1966-74. Eggleston is one of the artistic pioneers of color photography, and he immediately became a controversial figure in the art world from the beginning of his career. The Los Alamos series gave its name to the Louisiana exhibition of Eggleston's pictures in 2004.
"Democratic images" Eggleston likes to call his photographs: everything is depicted with equal accuracy by the camera and no subject is better or worse than another. Everything goes.
But the seemingly random, and in themselves almost meaningless, motifs are always only a starting point for Eggleston's artistic interpretations. During development, he manipulates and intensifies the colors of the images, so that the finished photographs - despite the possible banality of the subject - appear with a peculiar disturbing and almost supernatural beauty.
The poster is one of the anniversary posters reprinted in conjunction with Louisiana's 60th anniversary in 2018.
